Having completed an apprenticeship as a Ceramic Painter at the famous Royal Worcester Porcelain Company, I decided to take the plunge and become a freelance artist in January 1980. This artist's journey has now been 40 years!!!! Rollercoaster rides like this are never straightforward, but it has been full of variety excitement and inspiration. It's been a privilege and something I wouldn't swap for the world! Nowadays I spend equal time painting and teaching, which in itself is incredibly rewarding. We recently decided to sell our beautiful Greek Island house and now spend more time in our Holly Green home near Upton upon Severn. I now have a brilliant new studio and showroom in my garden, where I paint, fire my porcelain and display all my work . On my new website you will see the great variety of work I have been making in watercolour, oils and porcelain. I enjoy painting a vast cross section of subjects, styles and influences. My traditional English style, following in the footsteps of great Royal Worcester artists like William Powell, James Stinton, Jack Freeman and Harry Davis, with their wonderful paintings of highland cattle, pheasants, swans and fruit. I love the watercolours of Russell Flint, Archibald Thorburn, Arthur Melville and David Curtis. I am constantly inspired by my native Worcestershire countryside and the Malvern Hills . As well as original paintings of the Worcestershire landscape, there are around 200 signed artists prints of Pershore and surrounding villages, as well as the Cotswolds, Herefordshire and the Malverns . www.christopherhughesgallery.com
